Alison Rose Curley, currently attending college in New York, began her relationship with her mentor in 2011 as a student at Window Rock High School. She expressed these thoughts about her mentor, Detlef Teichner from Germany , "I absolutely love my mentor! He constantly encourages me to strive for more in life. I truly look forward to our emails because they have a sense of comfort and they relieve my stress. I can't imagine where I would be without my amazing mentor." Alison also sent laudatory comments about the FFC Friendship Program, "Futures for Children is a phenomenal program. It has helped me grow as an individual and realize what my true aspirations are in life. Thank you for selecting me and matching me with my mentor.
Hoitema Arliss Talayumptewa, a 7th grade student at Hopi Jr./Sr. High School, was accepted last year as a part of the Gifted and Talented Education Program which is designed to assist exceptional students in developing their abilities. His mentor is David Laplantz of Santa Fe, NM whom Hoitema says, "I appreciate him….he encourages me to do my best and sends me things that I need."
Dylan Reed Ami, who is a Junior at Hopi Jr./Sr. High School, filled the summer months between his sophomore and junior school years at the Upward Bound Academy at NAU which enabled him to experience the college life and classes. Dylan made this comment about his mentor, Linda McGuigan from Annapolis, MD, "She talks to me about life and how I should treat it. She encourages me to strive for the best every day. Linda is a great influence in my life."
Malinda Emy Poleahla, who is a Junior at Hopi Jr./Sr. High School, had this to say about her mentor, Susan Lintz of Newport Beach, CA, "Susan is a great sponsor. She helps support my family....and we appreciate all the things she does for us. She is a big part of my family, as well."
